PROYECTO DE INTERCAMBIO DE OBRAS EN EL ESPACIO DOMÉSTICO.

Cuando lo obvio nos hiere los ojos, es cuando los proyectos toman rumbos que parecen extra simples, pero que dada la estructura en que nos movemos, es un ejercicio nada menor de desarrollar.

LIVING sigue la huella de estos procesos, es paradojal, por lo menos en Chile, que cada vez menos los artistas nos juntemos a conversar de las cosas que nos mueven, que nos motivan, nuestras visiones de mundo. Conocer nuestras casasynuestros lugares de trabajo. A veces estamos tan ensimismados con la labor profesional y la carrera de ser artistas que olvidamos estos hechos simples.

Una tarde de taller conversando lo complejo que se ha convertido el hecho de exponer, con toda la dinámica de los proyectos, presentaciones y búsquedas de espacios adecuados, es que comprendimos que debíamos, no sólo querer, sino hacer algo al respecto. Así nace LIVING, como una forma de descomprimir nuestras ansiedades y aspiraciones, volviendo a mirarnos, juntarnos y activar ejercicios simples, eligiendo obras de otros, curando, especulando y exponiendo en nuestras propias casas. De esta manera nuestros espacios domésticos, serían las plataformas que nos afectarían, que convocaran y que fueran la excusa perfecta para vernos y compartir con otras personas.

LIVING hace un ejercicio a partir de la pertenencia y el desprendimiento de nuestros propios espacios, proponiendo un diálogo donde yo habito en el otro y el otro habita en mí. Poco a poco, el ejercicio entonces, consiste en la habitabilidad de el espacio ajeno y el espacio propio. 

En el transcurso de algunos meses, hicimos una serie de visitas semanales a nuestros respectivos lugares de vivienda y trabajo, cruzando fotografías y referentes y ajustando una serie de clavijas que darían forma a esta iniciativa. La estructura sería parecida a la que siempre creamos para exponer, pero ahora los lugares serían cercanos y la tensión pasaría por ver nuestros trabajos puestos en el espacio íntimo del otro, alterando el diseño, la circulación y la realidad del otro, alterando en parte, la propia dinámica familiar.

LIVING , es una invitación a disfrutar desde el sofá preferido, a reírse con los amigos, a dar visibilidad a las obras desde otros espacios y, aportar lúdicamente al panorama del arte contemporáneo en Santiago.

When artistic projects follows routes that seem rather simple, the outcome can appear obvious.  But given the context in which we operate, nothing can be taken for granted.

LIVING follows, paradoxically (at least in Chile) the path of these processes, in which - less and less often - artists gather together to talk about what motivates and inspires them.  That is, to talk about the creative process, reflections, research, art world and the art market. How does the “art circuit” really function?

The idea of LIVING came out of this question and, besides that, the acknowledgement that contemporary art is the only sphere of activity that allows us to create reality out of the established circuit.  It may seem absurd, but the realities of art arise precisely from fiction, via the interaction of multiple factors.

So: does an established art circuit exist within the world of contempory art? Could we develop any new way to exhibit? What is its relevance? If projects exist on streets, in factories, or rivers - could we, for example, exhibit just as effectively in our own homes?

LIVING was created as a means of decompressing our anxieties and hopes, of going back to basics, of looking at each other, of gathering together and launching simple excercises - such as choosing each other´s art work, pondering and showing in our own houses.  In this way, our domestic spaces become the platforms that would affect us, summon us – and also provide the perfect pretext on which to meet and share with other people.

LIVING seeks to establish a dialogue where everyone inhabits each other´s space. Our homes are transformed into an aesthetic experiment that harbors a series of practices and reflections upon our works, the crossing-fertilisation and social encounters that go hand-in-hand with art exhibitions.  In the end, the project emerges as an artistic statement, which sets forth to transform the living space [and incorporate the artistic work into it].
